Mayne Island - Monday

Candis and I had the place to ourselves on Monday, so we went for another kayak trip. This time we didn't have to haul a toddler or a cooler, so we went much further afield.

Seals with Mt Baker in the background.

A Bald Eagle

A seal and an oystercatcher.

There were hundreds of seals about. Sometimes one would follow in the wake of our kayak, and sometimes they'd all take to staring at us. I managed to convince Candis that we should be on the lookout for Great White Sharks, since they're the natural predator of seals. In fact, they never come this far north. With a concentration of seals like this there's a chance of seeing Killer Whales, but there were none about that day.

We stopped for lunch on Saturna Island and watched boats coming through Boat Passage.
